THE SABA WAY
Welcome to a Thai Kitchen, a lot of our kitchen team have been with us since we opened. We think of ourselves as a warm and caring family at Saba To Go and like every family, we are completely unlike any other. We have our own way of doing and seeing — our very own sense of how things should be and we call this the Saba Way. Some are brothers, Husband & wife, Uncle or just great friends. All are part of our very special team here at Saba To Go.
Alan, Operations Director
Alan Cadden is the Manager of Saba To Go Takeaways & Wine stores. Alan has worked in the food industry since he was a young boy working in the wash up of his parents restaurant The Asgard in Westport, Co.Mayo. Alan spent a lot of time training along side his father in the kitchen, going on to do a Diploma in Hotel Management & Business Studies at Shannon College of Hotel Management. Training in Switzerland & London. He returned to Ireland in 2000 to open his own Restaurant in Castlebar Co.Mayo, expanding his business with his brother Mark they opened Bar One in Castlebar. In 2008 Alan moved to Dublin to work with his brother Paul Cadden who was opening Saba To Go in Rathmines.
It was early 2006 and I had found a location on Clarendon Street that felt just right. I wanted to ensure that the food served was as authentic as possible. I had worked with Taweesak (Tao) previously but had heard he had gone back to Thailand for good. My father and I travelled together to Bangkok and met Tao for lunch. I told him about my plan for the restaurant and that I was looking for chefs. He said that he already had commitments in Thailand himself, but he would make enquiries on my behalf.
Later that night we met again for dinner in a restaurant on the Chao Praya River. Tao brought four familiar faces: Paek, Lek, Ting and Addy — I had worked with all of them before. Tao announced that he and the others all wanted to be a part of the new project and would come back to Dublin and work with me. It was an emotional moment. By the end of April, we got our keys for SABA and we opened our doors to the public for the first time on September 12th 2006. Since then, our family has grown. As we celebrate another branch to our tree in Baggot Street, I’m delighted to say that many of the original team are still with us. We continue to grow together.
Tao, Executive Chef
My name is Taweesak (Tao) Trakoolwattana and I’m the ninth child in a family of twelve. Each child had their own jobs around the house. Mine was to accompany my mother to the market every day to buy food and help prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner. She was my first teacher.
I qualified as a chef in 1987 and started my training in five-star hotels in Phuket and Bangkok. In 1994, I went to Germany where I realised that good Thai food is very popular outside of Thailand.
In 2002, I came to Ireland and it was during this time that I worked with Paul. After a few years, we went our separate ways but still remained friends. When Paul came to Bangkok in 2006 and told me about his plan, I was immediately excited and returned to Dublin with four chefs. Working in SABA and SABA To Go is like working with one big family. This is the reason I’m happy to call Ireland my home.

All our dishes at SABA also have a very Low glycemic load meaning they do NOT spike your insulin. Our dishes are wholesome and the more fibre, protein or fat in a food the less it will spike your insulin. For example, WHITE rice will spike insulin if eaten alone but mix with a coconut milk based curry and it will take down the overall glycemic load. Opt for brown rice, this is naturally low on the glycemic index because of its high fibre content.

The Team at Saba To Go
We get lunch catered for our office every month and Saba To Go is without doubt one of the favourites among the team. So many great options; always arrives on time, hot and fresh, customised and personalised per individual order. Couldn't ask for a better service!

Saba came to Mink for our Christmas Party in our flagship store in Ballsbridge, and it was the perfect mix of delicious food, super wine and excellent service. It was a unique request to see could they cater for 40+ people in a salon environment, and Alan was just so helpful, it was a pleasure. Our team left with Saba To Go boxes, which was a lovely touch at the end of the night. I would highly recommend their catering, the whole experience was first class.

Order from here on a regular basis. The food is good value and it always arrives on time. They have great paleo and superfood salad options if you want a healthy meal. Their noodle dishes are delicious. You can have a choice of chicken, beef, duck, extra veg, prawns or tofu with most dishes. They charge a little extra for Brown rice (which is more red than brown) but it's worth the little extra. The food is always delivered with complimentary crackers with a side of sweet chilli dipping sauce. They aren't your regular prawn crackers as they are golden in colour and therefore taste much better. I would recommend this place when you want a healthy meal but don't feel in the mood to cook!

Fabulous food and amazing service. We ordered food for 30 people and the service was exceptional from first contact with Alan right through to to delivery by the most polite, friendly ,attentive and professional guys who set it all up for us in chafing dishes and left it ready to just serve up. The two dishes were delicious and everybody still talking about the food and how good it was. Well done guys . Great experience

Absolutely delicious and always my go-to take away! Everytime I think I've found my favorite dish, I try one more and love it too! Always prompt pick-up and delivery times. I recommend the pad thai if you do not eat Thai food often, the gaeng pet curry if you like a little spice and the fan fo for a savory and hot mix.

Saba To Go is a fantastic takeout situated on the top of Rathgar Road. They have a huge menu and variety of dishes which they are constantly updating to meet their customers expectations. They have a great selection of wok, curry and noodle dishes and carry Paleo, gluten free & dairy free options also so very much cater to any dietary requirements. The menu also details the calorie count in each dish which means you can make healthy choices and don't have to feel guilty about this takeaway! Most importantly the food is delicious. They use the freshest ingredients and food is always delivered piping hot. My favourite would have to be the green curry and Phad Kraprow perfect if you you are looking for something nice & spicy! A final bonus is the great wine selection and Nobo which I absolutely love. Saba To Go has everything to make the perfect takeaway! I would 100% recommend.
